A traveller by bicycle is cycling in a very remote area of the Himalayas during his world tour. He is on the famous M41 road (Pamir Highway), across the arid landscapes of the Pamir mountains between Ak-Baital pass (4655m) and the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, in Badakhshan, Tajikistan. The Pamir highway goes from Afghanistan, to eastern Uzbekistan, crosses Tajikistan from west to east and ends in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. The road has been used for ages (it was one of the ancient silk roads) and is today famous for being the second highest road in the world and also one of the most beautiful.
