Refugees Seek To Reach Northern Europe Via Italy

Abel's journey has so far taken seven months, including crossing the Mediterranean Sea by a small boat with 105 other migrants to the Italian island of Lampedusa, for which Abel says he paid smugglers USD 3,000. European Union nations are currently discussing how to distribute 40,000 refugees camped in Italy and Greece more fairly throughout Europe, though some members, including Austria and the Czech Republic, are flat out refusing to accept any more refugees.
