Civil War in Liberia

The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) is the national army under the Samuel Doe regime. By 1992, the AFL maintained only limited authority after most of its equipment had been damaged or destroyed during the Liberian Civil War. Other factions in conflict with the AFL include the peacekeeping force (ECOMOG) from the Economic Community of West African States and the NPFL (National Patriotic Front of Liberia) rebels led by Charles Taylor.
