Garment Workers Gather In Protest Against Low Wages
PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA - SEPTEMBER 17: A group of garment workers holding stickers and wearing t-shirts bearing USD177 protest inside the Canadia Industrial Park to push for an increase of their minimum salary on September 17, 2014 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Thousands of garment factory workers from across Cambodia are taking part in a global day of worker solidarity. Eight of Cambodia's workers unions who are organizing today's events are handing out stickers and t-shirts bearing "USD177" - the unions' requested minimum wage - and holding speeches at up to 300 factories. The unions and workers are also asking for international brands purchasing from Cambodia - including Adidas, H&M, Gap and Zara - to support a minimum wage of USD177 per month and to commit to continue purchasing from Cambodia if this increase is implemented.
