The family of Ana Paula and Mario Augusto and their 3 children, who live in Espinho, northern Portugal, are the host family of Ukrainian Ruslana who spends with them 5 weeks in the summer since 2014, away from her hometown Ivankiv situated near the inactive Chernobyl nuclear power station. Since 2008, the project "Blue Summer" sponsored by an insurance company brings to Portugal Ukrainian children from villages that are a few kilometers of the inactive Chernobyl nuclear power station, to spend five weeks of vacation with Portuguese host families, the project started with 11 children and this year brought to Portugal 34 children. The aim of this project is to give this children healthier, fresh air away from the radioactive Chernobyl environment, providing a vacation with sun, sea, good food and good company.
