ISRAEL-HOLOCAUST-MUSIC-HISTORY
Seventy-six-year-old Israeli violin maker Amnon Weinstein holds a violin which he named the "Auschwitz Violin" since it belonged to a Jewish man imprisoned at the Auschwitz concentration camp during the Second World war at his workshop in Tel Aviv on July 15, 2016.
Weinstein, a relative of holocaust victims and a well-known violin maker has dedicated the last two decades of his life to locating and restoring violins that were played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. He started the "Violin of Hope" project which brings these violins to life through concerts performed on the instruments he has restored. / AFP / MENAHEM KAHANA / TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY DAPHNE ROUSSEAU (Photo credit should read MENAHEM KAHANA/AFP via Getty Images)
