A solar thermal electric power plant in Sanlucar La Mayor on February 13, 2008. The plant works by using sunlight to generate heat. To generate this intense heat arrays of reflective mirrors are used to concentrate sunlight onto a central receiver which uses the collected heat to produce steam to power an engine to generate electricity which can be distributed through the electricity grid. It is the largest solar plant in Europe capable of producing 11megawatts of electricity. AFP PHOTO/CRISTINA QUICLER (Photo by Cristina Quicler / AFP) (Photo by CRISTINA QUICLER/AFP via Getty Images)
