(Original Caption) Washington Law College Dean to be 70 Years Old Next Sunday. Miss Emma Gillett, dean of the Washington College of Law, Washington, DC, who will celebrate her 70th birthday anniversary, June 30. A dinner will be given in her honor on Saturday next by prominent women lawyers and club women of Washington. Miss Gillett is the only woman dean of a law school in the country and is a senior member of the bar. She was appointed a notary public by President Garfield in 1881 and was the first woman to receive such an appointment. She was one of the original members of the District (of Columbia) Suffrage Association, and one of the founders of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Political Study Club.
