A rocky outcrop and the trunk of a fallen Cork Oak tree, which provides a good seat to rest upon, on the footpath on the walk up the Pic du Cap Roux. Trees that fall, but survive and continue to live, however damaged they are, are called Phoenix trees. Oaks are one of the few species that have the ability to continue like this, as long as some root survives after the damage.
