This raptors were illegally shot and stuffed in Bulgaria. Then they have become part of decoration of restaurants and taverns around the country until they were confiscated by the authorities. All raptors in Bulgaria are protected but illegal shooting is taking place all over the country. For a long period of time during the communist regime, raptors were considered as pests and shot and poisoned on all occasions, as hunters were encouraged to do that. Today crimes against raptors are still happening on daily basis with no consequences for the poachers. The picture shows endangered species of raptors such as Great Owl, Imperial and white tail eagles, osprey, white tail and common buzzards, goshawk and sparrowhawk, Peregrine and kestrel, harriers and other small species of owls.
