(FILES) -- File pictured dated May 25, 2007 shows radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr addressing supporters at Friday prayers at his local mosque in Kufain central Iraq. The Iraqi government said on April 24, 2010 that an offer by Sadr, who lives in self-imposed exile in Iran, to help boost security at strategic sites was unnecessary, in the wake of anti-Shiite attacks in Baghdad. In a statement on April 23, after anti-Shiite attacks rocked Baghdad and killed more than 50 people, Sadr said he was "ready to supply hundreds of believers to form brigades within the police forces and army to defend the shrines, the mosques, the faithful, the markets, the houses and the people."
