Moscow, RUSSIAN FEDERATION: Vladimir Grebyonkin swims in icy water in the Moskva river in Moscow, 27 January 2007. Grebyonkin, president of the Russian Winter Swimming Federation, says there are between one and two million Russian "morzhy" or walruses. Critics, including many doctors, warn that ice swimming is dangerous. Water temperatures of two to four degrees Celsius (36-39 degrees Fahrenheit) can kill within 30 minutes. But ice swimming, popular from Canada to China, is part of the mythical Russian soul. AFP PHOTO / MAXIM MARMUR (Photo credit should read MAXIM MARMUR/AFP via Getty Images)
