Police man an intersection May 11, 2018 following reports of shooting at Highland High School in Palmdale, 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of downtown Los Angeles. - Police arrested a man after reports of shootings at two schools near Los Angeles, the local sheriff's department and education officials said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff said one suspect had been detained "regarding the person with a gun" at Highland High School. Local news reports had earlier said that at least one person had been wounded. It was not immediately clear what type of weapon the man had. (Photo by Frederic J.
