The Gepard (German Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer (also Flakpanzer, FlakPz) Gepard - a tank with an anti-aircraft gun) is a German anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery installation produced by the Krauss-Maffei company in cooperation with other companies. A modified chassis from the Leopard 1 tank and an artillery section based on two 35 mm Oerlikon KDA guns were used. Entered service in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands in the second half of the 1970s. The combat baptism took place in 2022 during the Russian-Ukrainian war. It is intended for the protection of armored columns on the march and stationary objects from attacks from helicopters and airplanes at low and ultra-low altitudes day and night under any weather conditions and in conditions of intensive radio-electronic countermeasures by the enemy.
