INT MS: In a Skype interview the man who was rescued from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station on 2001-04-26 after suffering a stroke, Dr. Ron Shemenski says (about the plane’s frozen flaps which were freed by an engineer) “Otherwise the plane would have been stuck there for the rest of the winter.” EXT DAY ANTARCTICA MS: Plane comes in for landing. STILL: Doctor who was rescued from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 1999 after self-diagnosing her breast cancer, Jerri Nielsen. INT ANTARCTICA IN THE AMUNDSEN-SCOTT SOUTH POLE STATION 3 MS: In a medical room person watches Nielsen give herself chemotherapy as another (faces unseen) holds Nielsen’s head. GFX (NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION): Map showing the route of the two Twin Otter aircraft from Punta Arenas, Chile to Rothera Research Station, Antarctica traveling 1000 miles, and the continued route of one of the planes to the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station 1500 miles away with GFX super showing the temperature at minus 70 degrees. EXT DAY MS: A Twin Otter plane tilts as it comes in for a landing. STILL: Insert of pilot Sean Loutitt. GFX SUPERS (HEARD IN SEAN LOUTITT’S TELEPHONE INTERVIEW VO): “You're the only aircraft operating on an entire continent, you then are flying 10 hours to the South Pole in darkness, cold temperatures, if anything happens on that flight you have to support yourself." EXT DAY ANTARCTICA MS: Adventurers use ski poles to walk. MS: One adventurer falls near the others. MS: In 2013-12 adventurers including Prince Harry walk. INT MS: In interview International Adventurer Inge Solheim, who took part in the 2013-12 trek with Prince Harry, says (part VO) “It's like being on a different planet really and…when you see there's nothing to see on the horizon your attention turns inwards to your own thoughts.” EXT DAY ANTARCTICA 2013-12 3 MS: Prince Harry stands with others.
