FDA says MAHA commission report intended for forefront of health policy discussions

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Martin Makary testifies at a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies budget hearing for fiscal year 2026 that the MAHA Commission report would put at the forefront of health discussions many issues scientists had been talking about for years, noting that in oncology meetings they never talked about root causes of cancer which was going up in kids and young people under age 50, emphasizing need to talk about food and chemicals not just chemo and insulin, with the commission report being a diagnosis to be delivered in another 100 days.
