UK Riots 2024 - Masked teen boys join riots, Sunderland

The disorder began in Southport after the fatal stabbings of three girls. It was sparked by posts on social media which wrongly blamed the stabbings on a Muslim migrant. The riots are widely believed to be expressive of wider hostility to multiculturalism and anti-migrant prejudice and have been described as Islamophobic, racist, anti-immigration and far right. Counter protests to these riots have also been occurring.
