In Southern Florida, Burmese Pythons (Python molurus bivittatus) have been introduced and in the last decade have become a common occurrence within the Everglades. They are considered an invasive species since they are both, non-native to Florida (from Asia) and consuming large numbers of native wildlife. Burmese Python population numbers have increased and they are now found in the upper Florida Keys. Numerous scientific papers have been published on this invasive population. This animal was found basking on a cool morning following a low of 44 Fahrenheit the following night. It was attempting to warm a recent meal but extending a coil out in the open that contained the meal.
