The Ormiston Gorge formed the western boundary of the MacDonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory of Australia. The eastern boundary is dominated by Mount Giles. The Ormiston Pound is a ring of mountains in the West MacDonnell National Park, located around 135 kilometres west of Alice Springs . It lies at the half way point in the Larapinta Trail and offers view of Mount Sonder, Gosses Bluff crater and the surrounding range. The Finke River passes Ormiston Gorge in the west.
