Croydon, England - April 2, 2011: The Whitgift Centre in Wellesley Road, Croydon. The Whitgift Centre is a large shopping mall built on the former site of Whitgift Middle School, one of the schools in the Whitgift Foundation. The school was renamed Trinity School of John Whitgift and moved out to Shirley, in Surrey, in 1965. The Whitgift Foundation is named after its founder, John Whitgift, Archbishop of Canterbury, who created the charitable foundation in 1596. A Tramlink station is in the foreground: trams run on various lines terminating at Wimbledon, Beckenham Junction and New Addington.
