Ives during her induction ceremonies at 201 Varick Street here. Judge Donlon is the first woman appointed by President Eisenhower to high judicial office. This marks the first appointment of a New York State woman to a federal judgeship. It is a life appointment. Looking on is chief judge Webster J. Oliver, who presided at the ceremony.
