PORTO, PORTUGAL - 2025/12/11: A protester holds a placard during the national general strike. Porto's Avenida dos Aliados was filled with thousands of demonstrators during Portugal's national general strike. Called by unions CGTP (General Confederation of Portuguese Workers) and UGT (General Workers Union), the protest united teachers, architects, cultural workers, and retail employees against proposed labor reforms. Banners denounced precarious contracts, wage stagnation, and threats to parental rights, while satirical signs targeted Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. Volunteers offered food to strikers, highlighting solidarity as diverse sectors demanded dignity, fairness, and stronger protections for workers.
