Over 20 Deaths As Farmers Camp At Delhi Borders In Biting Cold

As the protest over contentious farm laws continues, over 20 people linked to protests have passed away due to different reasons. While some died in accidents, others committed suicide or simply passed away while campaigning at the Delhi borders in the cold wintery weather. On Wednesday, a Sikh priest committed suicide and a farmer passed away allegedly due to the cold weather. Thousands of farmers from states like Punjab and Haryana have blocked some of the highways leading to Delhi borders for more than two weeks now against the new farm laws which they fear will prompt the government to stop making direct crop purchases at minimum state-set prices, called minimum support price.
