Iranian parliamentarians condemn Macron's anti-Islamic remarks

TEHRAN, IRAN - OCTOBER 27: Iranian parliamentarians on Tuesday, Oct. 27, condemned the recent comments made by the French President Emmanuel Macron against Muslims. As a reaction against Macron's plan to crack down on so-called "Islamist separatism", and the rise in anti-Islamic movements in France, Iranian parliamentarians called on the Muslim world to boycott and protest France. Receb Rahmani, an Iranian parliamentarian, said Islamic countries must impose sanctions on all French authorities. None of them should have exceptions. The embassies of Islamic countries [in France] must clearly resist [French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks and plans]. The embassies and governments [of Islamıc countries] should show active reaction [to France]. The Islamic world should strongly retaliate against the French President and his government. No one should dare to do such disrespect, rudeness and insult from now onward," he said. Sehriyar Haydari, another parliamentarian, pointed at France's long lasting enmity towards the Islamic countries. “In the last century, France has aimed to create conflicts among Muslims primarily over sects and on ethnic identities. This is a proven fact," he said. Stressing the importance of collective action against France, parliamentarian Muhammed Taki Nakdevi said "Muslims should act in unity and take a common and solid stance." Nakdevi also suggested that "Muslim jurists should work together and implement an inclusive action.” Macron has recently sparked outrage across the Muslim world by accusing French Muslims of “separatism,” and describing Islam as an “a religion in crisis."
