Congressman Carter criticizes conservative Supreme Court for chipping away at Voting Rights Act after Louisiana challenge heard

Louisiana Congressman Troy Carter says at a Congressional Black Caucus news conference hours after the Supreme Court heard a challenge to the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v Callais that at stake was whether one third of Louisiana's population black Louisianians would continue to have an opportunity to elect representatives of their choice or whether hard won progress would be erased under the guise of so called Color Blind politics, and if struck down Louisiana could lose its two majority black congressional districts silencing black voters voices in Washington.
