Algeria not to tolerate intervention to its domestic affairs: Algerian Foreign Minister

ROME, ITALY - OCTOBER 07: Referring to recent remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron, Algeria will not tolerate intervention to its domestic affairs, said Algerian Foreign Minister on Thursday.Ramtane Lamamra gave an exclusive interview to Anadolu Agency, in Rome where he came for attending to Italy-Africa 3rdMinisterial Meeting.Our all partners, particularly France, should understand that we will not permit our national presence of pre-French colonial era to be questioned, and give concessions for cooperation, he highlighted.Reiterating that recent statements by France which claimed that there was no Algerian national identity before French rule in the country (1830-1962), Lamamra noted such approaches are totally unacceptable.“ As long as our independence, sovereignty, legitimate rights are fully respected, we are ready to cooperate. If this is not the case, we are ready to struggle,” he remarked.-Turkish-Algerian relationsDrawing attention to the deep and historical ties between Turkey and Algeria, Lamamra emphasized the recently increasing Turkish investments in Algeria which he regarded as successful contributions to Algeria’s development.He, furthermore, added that Algeria favors of diversification of bilateral cooperation areas.Our cooperation should be forward looking, and should include every aspect of life, Lamamra said.Also expressing Algeria’s support to Libyan people with all possible means, he said the country is ready to present contribution for preparation and holding for elections in Libya.(Footage by Baris Seckin/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
